We use these technologies only for defined purposes and in accordance with the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR), as amended, and applicable UK data protection law.

Some technologies may be used without consent where a PECR exception applies. Other technologies are not used until the required consent has been obtained.

4. Strictly necessary technologies

Strictly necessary technologies are used where they are essential to provide a service you request or to operate important security and transactional functions.

• remembering items in your basket or maintaining a shopping session;
• authentication and account security;
• fraud prevention, security and fault detection;
• remembering your privacy or cookie choices; and
• supporting checkout, payment and transaction security where necessary.

Where the strictly necessary PECR exception applies, these technologies do not require consent. They should not be used for unrelated advertising or profiling purposes.

5. Statistics and analytics

We may use technologies to understand how tavros.uk is used and to improve the website.

UK law now provides a limited statistical-purposes exception that may allow certain technologies to be used without prior consent where their sole purpose is to collect statistical information about use of the service with a view to improving it, provided users receive clear information and a simple, free way to object.

Where a statistics or analytics technology does not meet that exception — for example because it is also used for advertising, profiling or another purpose — we will obtain the required consent before using it.

For a conservative launch configuration, TAVROS may choose to keep analytics disabled until the user actively enables it through Cookie Settings.

6. Preference and functionality technologies

We may use technologies that remember choices which affect how the website looks or functions.

Some preference technologies may fall within a PECR exception where their purpose is to adapt the service to a user's stated preference and the user is given clear information and a simple, free means of objecting.

Where no exception applies, the relevant technology will remain disabled until the required consent is obtained.

7. Advertising, marketing and social-media technologies

Technologies used for online advertising, ad personalisation, cross-site tracking, profiling, social-media tracking or advertising measurement require consent where PECR applies.

TAVROS will not activate non-exempt advertising or marketing pixels, tags or similar technologies before the user has made a valid choice.

If providers such as Meta, TikTok, Google or other advertising platforms are enabled in the future, they must be identified in the live Cookie Settings and the Cookie Policy must be updated where necessary before those technologies are activated.

8. Payment technologies

Checkout is powered by Stripe. Stripe may use cookies or similar technologies in connection with payment processing, authentication, fraud prevention and transaction security.

Technologies that are strictly necessary to provide the requested payment service or protect the transaction may be used without consent where the relevant PECR exception applies. Any use for a separate non-exempt purpose must follow the applicable consent rules.

10. Withdrawing consent or objecting

Where processing depends on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time with the same ease with which it was given.

When consent is withdrawn, TAVROS will stop using the relevant non-exempt technologies and will take appropriate steps concerning data collected under that consent, subject to applicable law.

Where TAVROS relies on the statistical-purposes or appearance exception instead of consent, you will be given a simple and free way to object. If you object, the relevant storage or access must stop.

11. Third parties

Some technologies may be supplied by third-party service providers. Where consent is required, the consent mechanism must identify relevant third parties and explain the purposes for which information is shared.

At launch, TAVROS must not treat an advertising, analytics or social-media provider as active unless it has actually been implemented and is correctly reflected in the live Cookie Settings.

Third-party providers may process information under their own privacy terms where they act as independent controllers.

12. Current cookie and technology register

The live Cookie Settings panel on tavros.uk should contain the current register of individual cookies and similar technologies in use, including, where applicable, the technology or cookie name, provider, purpose, category and duration.

Because website services and technical identifiers can change, the live register should be kept up to date whenever the site's providers or technologies change.

No new non-exempt analytics, advertising or social-media technology should be activated until the consent mechanism and live register have been updated appropriately.

13. How long choices are remembered

We may use a strictly necessary preference technology to remember your cookie choices for a reasonable period so that we do not ask you on every visit.

We may ask you to make a fresh choice where our purposes or providers materially change, where previous consent is no longer sufficiently specific or informed, or after an appropriate period.

If you previously refused optional technologies, we will not repeatedly pressure you to consent. ICO guidance indicates that around six months can be a suitable general interval before asking again, unless there is a valid reason to refresh the choice sooner.

14. Browser and device settings

Your browser or device may provide additional controls for cookies or tracking technologies. These controls can supplement the choices provided on tavros.uk.

However, TAVROS does not assume that browser settings alone amount to valid consent where consent is required.
